St. John's Chorale holds AUDITIONS for new members on Monday, September 17 from 6:30-8 p.m. in the Parish Hall of St. John's Church, on the Green in Washington. The Chorale, which is directed by Mark R. Scholtz, has openings for all vocal parts; each audition will take no more than ten minutes. Since the Chorale was formed in 1991 by Mr. Scholtz, its performances have been praised as "lively and translucent" by one local critic, who also described the Chorale as "one of the best small choruses around." This is a poignant memoir recounted by the three surviving daughters of a Union Army soldier who came to Texas during the Civil War. Gallery on the Green, Route 44 in Canton presents three new exhibits through October 7. "TRILOGIES: The Evolution of Adolescent Boys Over Three Years," is a project in which Christine Breslin reveals not only the masks teenage boys wear as they approach manhood, but their feelings as well. She has been documenting her own son and some of his friends going through these changes for the past three years. In the Upstairs Gallery, "KNOW YOUR TOWN: An Architectural Look at Canton" features original architectural drawings from the League of Woman Voters' "Know Your Town" booklet. Original drawings will be on sale along with limited edition prints of selected drawings; a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Gallery. The third exhibit, "MY SUMMER VACATION," is a members' theme show that is on display in the Spotlight Gallery. Artist members created 12" x 12" works that are hung grid-style from floor to ceiling. Roaring Brook Nature Center, 70 Gracey Rd. in Canton presents THE OSTERTAG SCENIC PRINTS by freelance photographer George Ostertag through October 25. The exhibition will include photos of wildlife, wildflowers and scenic views of well-known areas and national landmarks from around the United States. The photographer has had the opportunity to capture many unusual scenes while researching material for more than ten hiking and outdoor books that he has co-authored with his wife Rhonda.
