TORRINGTON: Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9086 holds a Pasta Dinner fundraiser at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 152 Litchfield St. (Route 202) from 4-7 p.m. In addition to the dinner, a raffle will be held to raise money to replace the American flags that were stolen on Main Street shortly after September 11. The public is invited. Tickets are $6 adults, $3 children, and may be purchased from any V.F.W. member, the Knights of Columbus, or by calling 482-0723. WINSTED: The Center for Student Development at Northwestern CT Community College hosts "The Drug Called Ecstasy—Not All Fun and Games" from 12:15-1:30 p.m. in Green Woods Hall, Room 224. BANTAM: The 5th annual Beirut Memorial Ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. at the All Wars Memorial on Route 202. The ceremony honors the 241 Marines, Sailors and Soldiers who were killed when a terrorist truck bomb exploded on October 23, 1983 in the war-torn country of Lebanon. This gathering will be a great opportunity for veterans of Beirut and their families to meet old frineds and remember those who can’t be with us. All veterans of this great nation are encouraged to attend.

COLEBROOK: Colebrook Lions Club holds its annual All-You-Can-Eat Pasta Dinner from 5-7:30 p.m. at Colebrook Consolidated School. Cost is $6 adults, $3 children; all money raised will go towards funding community activities. Take-outs will be available; for more info call 379-0637.

CORNWALL: Rotary Club of Litchfield Hills meets at the Cornwall Inn at 8 a.m. Speaker will be Senator Andrew Roraback. Cost of $5.50 includes continental breakfast.

TORRINGTON: Concordia Lodge #20 Sons of Italy, 34 Center St. holds early bingo at 1 p.m. and regular bingo at 2 p.m., with progressive jackpot and refreshments. Doors open at 11 a.m.

TORRINGTON: The United Methodist Men of the First United Methodist Church on Fern Drive sponsor their 62nd semi-annual Lobster Dinner from 4-7 p.m. Dinner includes juice, hot boiled Maine lobster with hot-drawn butter (a 12-oz. steak may be substituted), baked potato, cole slaw, rolls and butter, coffe or tea, and homemade pie or cake; cost is $15. Surf & Turf, which includes a whole lobster and 6-oz. steak, will be available for $18; a cooked take-out lobster costs $10. WINSTED: The Elks Lodge, 75 High St. hosts a Pasta Dinner from 3-7 p.m. Let’s come together as a community to help the families of the brave American heroes who have given their lives and continue to risk their lives in order to protect our freedom. Tickets are $10 adults, $5 children (under 12), under 3 free; all proceeds will be donated to help those affected in the World Trade Center and Pentagon disasters of September 11. There will be a raffle after dinner.

NEW MILFORD: The Western CT Chapter of the CT Green Party sponsors a Peace Vigil to protest the "War on Terrorism" from noon-4 p.m. at the south end of the New Milford Green. Speakers will include John R. Battista, M.D. on "Pursuing Non-Violence Through International Law"; and Justine A. McCabe, Ph.D. on "Meeting the Demands for Peace." All are invited.

TORRINGTON: Beth El Synagogue offers a preschool program for families and young children from 10:45 a.m.-noon. TORRINGTON: Torringford Volunteer Fire Dept. holds its annual food drive for F.I.S.H. from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Price Chopper supermarket on Torringford St. Help the Torringford volunteers fill a fire truck with non-perishable items for our local neighbors in need. Items desperately needed include peanut butter, soup, juice, cereal, pasta sauce, canned vegetables, macaroni and cheese, frozen turkeys and trimmings for the Thanksgiving holiday.

TORRINGTON: Sullivan Senior Center, 88 East Albert St. hosts a Harvest Pancake Breakfast from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. This event will be fun for the whole family. Join us for a delicious pancake breakfast and apple pastries bake sale. There will be a Halloween activity room for kids of all ages; you can paint a pumpkin, make a mask, have your face painted, and learn about Halloween safety with Officer Tom Vanninni. Children who wear a costume will receive a free glowstick, and there will be other free give-aways. Tickets are $5 adults, $3 children (age 12 and under); for more info call 489-2211.

WINSTED: United Methodist Church, 630 Main St. holds a Roast Beef Dinner from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Menu includes roast beef and gravy, mashed potatoes, carrots, homemade pie and beverage.
