Hailed by the New York Times as "one of the clearest and most compelling voices of contemporary folk music," singer-guitarist Priscilla Herdman returns to perform a concert at the Roaring Brook Nature Center, 70 Gracey Road in Canton on Saturday, November 17 at 7:30 p.m. The opening act set will be performed by singer-songwriter-guitarist Jerree Small.
New York resident Priscilla Herdman is an interpretive singer who has built a rich repertoire of some of the finest songs ever written. She has earned great critical acclaim for her renditions of songs written by Tom Waits, Bill Staines, Anne Hills, James Taylor, Stan Rogers, Utah Phillips, John McCutcheon, Eric Bogle and Billy Joel among others. "Herdman has an uncanny knack for turning up brilliantly written folk tunes and performing them in a definitive style," states Geoffrey Himes of the Washington Post.
Woodbury, Connecticut resident Jerree Small has recently earned opening act spots in New York and Connecticut ahead of headliners Ferron, Jules Shear, and Maggie and Suzzy Roche. She is building a following by entertaining listeners with the quiet power of her voice and delicate, rhythmic guitar work on visual, reflective original songs from her two discs, Sleeping Giant and Mobius.
Tickets are $12; for more info and reservations, call 860-693-0263.
