WINSTED: Town of Winchester Planning and Zoning Commission meets at 7 p.m. in the P. Francis Hicks Room, 2nd floor at Town Hall. The agenda includes public hearing and action on special permits for 306 W. Wakefield Blvd. and 535 E. Wakefield Blvd., and a zoning regulation change regarding "Fences and Walls" requested by Wesley N. Grant. The public hearing regarding the special permit for the Town to construct a storage garage at the west corner of Center St. and Greenwoods Ave. will be continued. New business includes a request by the Town to take property of Sally Koplar for amount of back taxes owed.

FALLS VILLAGE: The Special Education Parent Advisory Council meets at 7 p.m. in the conference room above the cafeteria at Housatonic Valley Regional High School. The meeting will focus on real issues within the special education program and possible solutions for them. Bring your issues; all parents in Region One are invited to attend. BURLINGTON: The Burlington Junior Girl Scouts host a Pancake Breakfast fundraiser at the Lake Garda School cafeteria from 8-11:30 a.m. (Snow date is December 9.) Menu includes pancakes, sausage, juice, hot chocolate and coffee. There will be a craft table, bake sale, photo opportunity with Santa, and more. Admission is $5 adults, $3 children; proceeds benefit the Junior Girl Scouts’ wider opportunity trip.
GOSHEN: The Goshen Hospice Volunteer Program invites the public to a Holiday Tree Lighting ceremony to commemorate and honor loved ones at 4:30 p.m. at the Old Town Hall. There will be music, readings and refreshments.
LITCHFIELD: Mothers Against Drunk Driving celebrates the lives of those who have been killed or injured in an alcohol-related crash at a Candlelight Vigil of Remembrance and Hope at 2 p.m. at St. Anthony’s Church, 49 South St. Anyone wishing to attend or who wishes to have the name of a loved one read should call 860-350-6233.
NEW HARTFORD: Breakfast with Santa and Bake Sale at Antolini School from 8-11 a.m. sponsored by the New Hartford Federated Women’s Club. There will be a Girl Scout Carol Sing at 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. Tickets are $3.50 adults, $2.50 children (under 12).
TORRINGTON: Beth El Synagogue offers a preschool program for families and young children from 10:45 a.m.-noon. Crafts, games and stories focus on upcoming Jewish holidays and include an introduction to Jewish traditions and Torah stories; this month’s topic is Hannukkah.
