Last Chance — 70 Shots Left!

By Judy Pavlak, Winsted

Remember last winter when you had the misery of the flu with a fever, cough and those aching bones? That doesn't have to happen this winter—if you get a flu shot. It is so important if you are older, have a heart condition, or diabetes. The flu can be fatal. Even younger people who have jobs and kids who need care would be smart to get an inoculation.

Often I have gone to the senior citizens' clinic to fill out papers and wait in line longer than I wanted. This year I went to the Winsted Health Center's first clinic. It is quick—only one paper to fill out, and you sit in a soft chair to wait until they call your name. Zip! It is over. You are protected from the flu. Best of all, if you are on Medicare it doesn't cost you a thing. If you are not, you will need to pay $15, the standard fee everywhere.

There is a shortage of vaccine this year. Winsted Health Center has only 70 shots left. The last clinic will be on Thursday, November 29 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. (or until the shots run out).

Be smart! Take care of your health! Come in the emergency room doors, where the Winsted Health Center staff will take care of you.
