The Morning Star
By Roseann Dennerlein, Torrington
As I gazed at the deep blue heavens,
Infinite diamonds sparkled from afar.
Then I reflected upon Bethlehem—
Its jewel that shone upon the Morning Star.
This special Light,
The Ancient of Days,
Existed before the beginning
And eternally deserves our praise.
He came down from His heavenly throne
To be our Emmanuel.
It is Christ who receives honor
When we sing "The First Noel."
He was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
By the Virgin Mary given birth.
As both humble servant and King of Kings,
He journeyed upon the earth.
Through parables and miracles
Came lessons of wisdom, healing, and love.
He was one with the Father,
Who was watching from above.
The most powerful message of all
Was through His suffering and strife.
He shed His blood on the cross
To provide forgiveness and eternal life.
No stars were shining
On that sacrificial day.
But three days later,
God provided a different way.
Jesus rose in victory
From the empty tomb—
An even greater miracle
Than being born of a virgin womb.
The Bright and Morning Star
Shone brighter than ever before.
It is our Savior whom we worship
And forever we adore.
