Simon's Rock College in Great Barrington presents LIVE ELECTRONIC MUSIC with Bob Gluck and Joe Reinsel on Saturday, February 9 at 8 p.m. in the Kellogg Music Center. This unusual musical event brings together creative improvisation and new musical technologies. Bob Gluck is a composer, performer, pianist and educator. He will perform on his home-built interactive electronic musical instruments, including a sensor-based instrument called the "eBoard," as well as adapted instruments such as eShofar, an electronically processed ram's horn, and eSaz, an electronically wired and processed Turkish classical stringed instrument. Canton Junior/Senior High School, 76 Simonds Ave. in Canton presents a multi-ensemble INSTRUMENTAL CONCERT on Tuesday, February 12 at 7:30 p.m. in the school auditorium. This concert promises to defy all conventional connotations of the high school concert by experimenting with sound and spoken word as well as visual elements to provide a total sensory experience. The presentation will include performances by the jazz ensemble, chamber groups, percussion ensemble and the high school symphonic band. The concert features a piece by Thomas C. Duffy entitled "Crystals" (performed by the symphonic band), which explores the origin of sound by incorporating different flavors such as a water gong, lion's roar and the alto saxophone section on crystals. The concert will be unlike any other performance seen in the area and promises to be a memorable experience. The program is open to the public; requested donation is $3.

She is troubled by unsettling memories, and although her husband tries to reassure her, he is unsuccessful. As he steps away to retire for the evening, Elaine screams as she sees the body of a dead man in the apartment building across from theirs. The police are called and they don't find anything. Elaine is lead to believe she was just seeing things, until she sees a body of a dead woman in the same apartment. Police still are unable to find anything. An endless parade of all too well-meaning people are all bent on proving their own points about what happened. Seven Angels Theatre, located at Hamilton Park Pavilion on Plank Rd. in Waterbury presents "THE DINING ROOM" through February 10; curtain times are Thursday through Saturday at 8 p.m., and Thursday, Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m. "The Dining Room" gathers a series of vignettes that portray the demise of the lifestyle of a wealthy WASP family. With comedy tempered by sentiment, Gurney traces the slow and certain retreat of their family life as the center of that life, the dining room, becomes a forgotten and neglected room. Gathering a unique breadth of performances from a cast of three men and three women, this work skillfully weaves humor and pathos in scenes that overlap, requiring the actors and actresses to transform across decades and age. In a total, 57 characters are created by the ensemble as the action swirls in and out of dining rooms of many different eras, from the 1920s to the 1970s. Norfolk Library, Route 44 in Norfolk exhibits the watercolors of local artist STEPHANY HAINES during the month of February. "The Spirit of the Garden" will consist of paintings of garden scenes and garden vignettes as well as a few landscapes. Haines is a graduate of Vassar with a major in English Literature and a minor in Art History. She and her family divide their time between New York City and Norfolk. Canton Public Library, 40 Dyer Ave. in Canton exhibits the photographs of SUSAN WACHT during the month of February. A self-taught photographer, Ms. Wacht seeks images that can be appreciated as fine art, photographing from the heart, consistently shooting full frame both in color and black and white. Her art evolves from her deep respect for magic of nature and allows the intrinsic beauty of creation to emerge. Displaying a grace and beauty all their own, she captures landscapes that invite the viewer to peel back the layers like a fine antique painting. Simon's Rock College in Great Barrington presents a panel discussion on ALTERNATIVE MEDIA AND GLOBALIZATION on Friday, February 8 at 7 p.m. This discussion is the second in a 7-part symposium to explore a range of interpretations of the causes of the recent attacks on the World trade Center and the effects of globalization from various perspectives.
