Statue Liberty
By David Henri, New Hartford
Stands the greeter in the harbor, stands she proud and true,
Up she holds her torch of freedom, for the world to view.
She lights the darkness of oppression, lights the night of tyranny,
She frees the multitudes that pass her, liberates with liberty!
Hostess of America, her beacon beckons across the sea,
Shining hope throughout the earth, with democracy.
Lady of Liberty, symbolizing the blessings of our glorious state,
Welcomes home the new arrivals, immigration into a nation great.
Free to speak, free to worship, free to be as we wish to be,
To choose our leaders, to choose our future, to choose our destiny.
United with the country behind her, she maintains her stance,
Never flinching, never wavering, dancing her motionless dance.
Through times pleasant and gloomy, her beauty does inspire,
As she serves her nation, represents her people, lifts our spirits higher.
What she stands for, the brave have bled for, to keep us safe and free,
Gentle in nature, strong in stature, she, the Statue Liberty!
