The story follows a day in the life of Sam, an out-of-work actor who handles the red-hot reservation lines at Manhattan's trendiest restaurant. Crazed patrons will stop at nothingincluding threats, bribes and mad histrionicsin their zeal to land a prime table at this supposed temple of haute cuisine. Meanwhile, Sam finds himself up for a choice role at Lincoln Center at the same time that he's trying desperately to get time off to go home for Christmas. Hartford Stage, 50 Church St. in Hartford presents Matthew Lombardo's "TEA AT FIVE" starring Kate Mulgrew on Tuesdays through Thursdays at 7:30 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m., and Sundays at 7:30 p.m. through March 10. A portrait of screen and stage legend Katharine Hepburn, "Tea at Five" is an intimate look at Ms. Hepburn at home in her Fenwick estate in Old Saybrook, CT. The first act takes place in September 1938. Despite Broadway appearances and her first Oscar, she has just been labeled "box office poison" after a series of film flops. With her professional future in doubt, she contemplates her childhood in Hartford, education, and her start in show business. The second act takes place in February 1983, after Hepburn was injured in a car crash. The accident affords the now-legendary star an opportunity to reflect on the triumphs of her career and her heart-breaking romance with Spencer Tracy. "Peter vs. the Wolf" is a sequel to "Peter and the Wolf," with the Wolf on trial for "duckicide, in the first degree, with one gulp." Prokofiev's delightful score is used as evidence to convict the Wolf, but in a brilliant legal maneuver, the Wolf calls the individual instruments to the stand in his defenseand in the the process, teaches us about the instruments. Sons of the American Revolution seeks ARTISANS AND CRAFTSPEOPLE who would be interested in demonstrating their skills and perhaps selling their products at an outdoor Rev-War Era celebration. We are looking for coopers, blacksmiths, tinsmiths, as well as craftspeople working in basic pewter, leather goods and repair, spinning/ carding, sewing and quilt-making, dressmaking and general clothing, as well as anything else that pertains to the Rev-War era. Blanche McCarthy Winsted Senior Center, 80 Holabird Ave. sponsors a trip to FOXWOODS CASINO on Thursday, March 7.
