GOSHEN: Goshen Recreation Dept. hosts a free Skin Cancer Screening from 1-3 p.m. at Camp Cochipianee on Beach St. Skin cancer is the most common type of cancer; when found early, most people with skin cancer can be cured. Dr. Albert Babcock, a Simsbury plastic surgeon who is on the staff at Hartford Hospital, CT Children’s Hospital and the CT Surgical Center, will provide the examination for skin tumors. GOSHEN: Goshen Recreation Dept. hosts a Bone Density Screening from 1-3 p.m. at Camp Cochipianee on Beach St. As part of its Bone and Joint Wellness Program, McLean Health Center of Simsbury will conduct a simple 5-minute osteoporosis test performed on your bare heel; this test can indicate whether you need further testing for the purpose of diagnosing and treating this devastating disease. The results will be given to you and explained on site by a registered nurse, and will also be sent to your personal physician. Both men and women over age 21 can be screened; non-residents are welcome. Fee is $30, with a $5 discount for those age 50 or older; appointments are required. For more info call 860-491-2249.
