WINSTED: Northwestern CT Community College offers "Coping with Trauma and Depression" from noon-1 p.m. in Founders Hall, Room 101. Learn how to identify and cope with traumatic events, signs and symptoms of depression, and understand that depression is an illness and not a weakness. Tommy Paolino from the CT Dept. of Mental Health and Addiction Services will provide in-depth information about different symptoms and reactions to trauma. Suggestions to cope with trauma will be reviewed, and symptoms of clinical depression will be addressed with a focus on treatment options. TORRINGTON: The Center for Cancer Care offers free advice and hands-on activities to help individuals with cancer who are suffering from fatigue from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. The event will feature a variety of different techniques, ranging from guided imagery and Quigong to nutritional counseling and energy conservation. Participants will also be offered a fatigue assessment to help determine the source of their fatigue. Cancer-related fatigue is the most common side effect of cancer treatment, and the fatigue experienced by a person with cancer is different from fatigue of everyday life; it can be overwhelming and can affect many aspects of a persons life.
