Thank You, Superintendent Palmer!

By Christine Rodgers, Winsted

After attending the April 9 Town of Winchester Board of Education meeting, it was refreshing to see the board members talking in a manner that was appropriate for their positions. Two ladies in the audience made reference to the previous meeting, on April 1. One, Ruth Ann Horvay, spoke eloquently about the need to always maintain a positive attitude and to be able to see the good in each other and to be thankful for the efforts of all on the panel. The Chairman, Mr. Joe Fitzgerald, then thanked all of the members of the board. I am sure that it was just an oversight that he neglected to thank Superintendent Palmer for all that she does for our children.

I would hope that the people of Winsted realize how hard this lady works to try to improve the education and well-being of our children. We would all be remiss if we failed to thank and support her for her countless hours racked by headache and heartache. Working in the Alternate School, I have seen how the students relate to her and they know that she truly cares for them. So, I would like to publicly thank Superintendent Palmer for a job well done. Keep up the good work.
