Canton Library Thanks Girl Scouts
By Cheryl Donahue
Cheryl Donahue is Children's Librarian at Canton Public Library.
On behalf of the library, I thank the Girl Scouts of Canton for an outstanding job conducting wonderful programs here on Saturday, March 23. In honor of the 90th birthday of the Girl Scouts, local troops performed skits, read stories, painted faces, helped with crafts and sold cookies to benefit the library; new books on scouting were donated to the library's collection. The Girl Scouts of Canton also contributed funds for additional purchases for the library.
During the several years I have served as Children's Librarian, the Canton scouts have assisted in the library on numerous occasions. The girls have cheerfully helped maintain the shelves, rearranging books and keeping the collection up-to-date and orderly. A special Saturday storytime in January featured the girls performing an entertaining skit and reading books to a captive young audience. We at the library feel fortunate to have a dedicated, hard-working group of girls willing to generously serve our community. We appreciate all they have done and will continue to do for the Canton Public Library.
