AVON: The Complementary HealthCare Institute hosts a variety of free educational sessions and activities from noon-5 p.m. at Saint Francis Care, 35 Nod Rd. in Avon. Learn how complementary therapies can increase energy, reduce stress and restore well-being. Find out how holistic medicine can be used to complement traditional medical approaches for optimal health. Experience a mini-session on a variety of topics, including stress reduction therapy, pain release therapy, meditation, energy medicine, Feng Shui, massage, nutrition, and mindfulness-based exercises. The event will also feature an exhibition of artist Q Li Holmes from her "Flow of Chi" series, free refreshments, gifts for attendees, and an opportunity to receive free complementary health services. GOSHEN: Church of Christ Congregational hosts a 60-Plus Wellness Screening from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. in the Parish Hall. Elderly Health Screening Service is a mobile health screening and health education program involved in early detection of diseases and promotion of good health habits. Participants will receive a battery of tests which will take about one hour. Suggested donation is $35 for those having a Pap test and $25 for others; an appointment is required. This class will give an overview of potentially harmful as well as synergistic interactions between commonly used herbal nutritional supplements and medications.
