Giant Flea Market in New Hartford
The New Hartford Lions Club holds its 21st semi-annual Giant Flea Market on Saturday, June 1 from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. at Brodie Park, 580 West Hill Rd. at Niles Rd. in New Hartford; early buying runs from 6:30-8 a.m. What started back in 1992 as a small fundraiser has now grown to be one of the largest one-day flea markets in northwestern Connecticut, with 175 dealer spaces. Vendors from throughout New England will be offering antiques, collectibles, new merchandise, arts and crafts, as well as tag sale items. General admission is $1, or $5 for early buying; for more info call 860-482-1030.
Over the past decade, the success of the flea market has enabled the New Hartford Lions to set—and achieve—numerous goals in service to their community: high school scholarships, eyeglasses for the needy, a defibrillator for the ambulance, and two hand-carved welcome signs for the town roads. The club sponsors two flea markets (in June and September) as well as an antique show in March. It is an enormous job putting this type of activity together, and the club would like to thank all those who are not members—friends, relatives, high school students and local individuals—who generously help make this event so successful each time it is held.
Local residents who are interested in being a part of this organization or who wish to help with these events may call Membership Chairman Kathy Govotski at 860-482-1030. If you want to help make New Hartford a caring, wonderful place to live, please call today. Running our fundraisers requires so many skills that we need people from all walks of life. We would welcome your help!
