FVAC Summer Arts Camp
Farmington Valley Arts Center is taking registrations for its popular Summer Arts Camp for young artists (ages 7-15), held at the Ethel Walker School in Simsbury. Since the camp's inception in 1999, the number of children participating has doubled, and the expanded 2002 day camp program promises to deliver more of the fun and innovative arts activities that have kept kids actively involved in developing their creative genius in summers past.
Four two-week camp sessions are available, starting July 1, July 15, July 29 and August 12; camp runs from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. each day. Students select a schedule of five classes led by experienced teaching artists and organized by activity—visual arts, ceramics, photography, theater, dance and music. Each day includes an informal mid-day show featuring performances by students and faculty, as well as an organized arts and recreation period. Guest artists make special appearances during each two-week period, and each session concludes with Open Arts Day—an opportunity for children to demonstrate their creative achievements for family, friends and the general public.
The cost is $525 for one session, $500 for siblings, and $475 for subsequent sessions; a $50 discount applies for Session 1 due to the Fourth of July holiday. Some financial assistance is available; lunch service is provided for an additional fee. For a brochure or to register, call 860-678-1867, ext 101.
