SALISBURY: Taconic Learning Center holds its annual meeting at 3 p.m. at the Salisbury Congregational Church. The adult education organization's 2001-02 academic year will be reviewed and 2002 fall semester courses will be previewed. The Nominating Committee will present candidates Marilyn Barry, Laura Hawks Flores, Eric Gerstel, William DeVoti and Norman Sills for election to three-year terms on the Board of Directors. The Nominating Committee also will present a slate of officers for approval by the Board of Directors.

WINSTED: McCarthy Senior Center activities–crafts with Alice LeVesque at 10 a.m.; Attorney Debra Brown provides free legal advice at 11 a.m.; lunch with Gert and friends at noon; bingo with Evelyn Ruffenach at 1 p.m.
WINSTED: Winsted AARP #1051 meets at 1:30 p.m. in the recreation room at Chestnut Grove. Installation of officers for the coming year and recognition of new members will take place. Members are requested to bring a new item for the raffle. The Board of Directors will meet at 12:45 p.m.

CORNWALL: Rotary Club of Litchfield Hills meets at the Cornwall Inn on Route 7 at 8:15 a.m. Speaker will be Tom McGowan on "Litchfield County Town Planning." Cost of $6 includes continental breakfast; the public is invited. For more info call Ann Treimann at 860-672-1114.
LITCHFIELD: Community Center activities–yoga for all ages at 9:30 a.m.
SALISBURY: Berkshire United Soccer Club and the Salisbury Lions Club hold a pre-Father’s Day Car Wash from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Lakeville Hose Company; cost is $5 per car. Proceeds support the scholarship program and the purchase of equipment and related expenses for the Soccer Club, which provides spring and fall regional soccer teams for local youths (ages 6-18).
TORRINGTON: Torrington Towers, 52 Summer St. hosts its Strawberry Festival from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. There will be hot dogs, sauerkraut, beverage and mouthwatering shortcake, as well as a bake sale, raffle, and white elephant table. Everyone is welcome.
TORRINGTON: Concordia Lodge #20 Sons of Italy, 34 Center St. holds early bingo at 1 p.m. and regular bingo at 2 p.m., with progressive jackpot and refreshments. Doors open at 11 a.m.

TORRINGTON: Torrington Historic Preservation Trust sponsors a Public Forum on Downtown Redevelopment from 7-9 p.m. in the Carriage House of the Torrington Historical Society, 192 Main St. Featured speaker Patrick Pinnell has been working on an alternative redevelopment concept for upper Water Street based on the preservation of historic buildings. His presentation will help residents understand what is possible for their community, and will provide participants with the tools to understand more clearly and participate more fully in Torrington’s downtown planning process.
