Sandisfield Arts Center Seeks Programs for 2003

The programming committee of the Sandisfield Arts Center is currently seeking applications for its 2003 performing arts series and youth and family programs.

The series takes place between June and November and features theatre, dance, music of all kinds, readings, and unique programs that are appropriate for the intimate setting of the main hall (which seats 160) and the lower level "café" (which seats 90). Artists' works are displayed on the lower level and free youth/ family programs are sponsored by grants from local cultural councils and foundations.

Artists and performers may apply by sending a letter with background information to: George Preston, Sandisfield Arts Center, PO Box 31, Sandisfield, MA 01255. Youth program applications should be sent to Sue Salame, 74 Rood Hill Rd., Sandisfield, MA 01255.

All performers are encouraged to seek Cultural Council funding; applications are due October 15. For more info on the Sandisfield Cultural Council, call Charlene Peet at 413-258-4166.

The Arts Center building was built in 1839. Originally a Baptist meetinghouse, then an orthodox synagogue, the historic building is now on its third life as a thriving community arts center. Appreciated for its great acoustics and small-town charm, the Sandisfield Arts Center has been the site of many extraordinary performances. For more information about the Sandisfield Arts Center, call 413-258-3309.
