Guidebook to Village of Northfield at Gilbert Memorial Library
Margo D. Scott, author of A Village to Remember, has donated a supply of her books to Gilbert Memorial Library in Northfield. Published in 1990, this is the last of the third printing of the 24-page guidebook, which includes 20 points of interest in the village of Northfield.
Some stops include the Morosani windmill; the home of Pierpont Humiston, inventor of the first telegraph in 1816; the home of Charles Blakeslee, inventor of the anchor snap hook in 1879; the ruins of the Northfield Knife Company, which remain since 1853; and picturesque sights such as the Knife Shop Dam waterfall and Northfield Brook Lake.
The book is available upon request at the library.
