Vote for Masullo in Republican Primary
By George Washington, Barkhamsted

Republicans have an opportunity to vote for a new face in the upcoming Republican Primary on Tuesday, September 10. With the congressional redistricting that took place this year in Connecticut, area towns will no longer vote in the 6th Congressional District. Barkhamsted, Colebrook, New Hartford, Hartland and Winsted will for the first time be voting in the 1st Congressional District.

I urge all registered Republicans in these towns to vote for the party endorsed candidate, Miriam J. Masullo, in the September 10 primary. Miriam Masullo declares that she is the only "serious Republican" running in the primary. Her primary opponent, Phil Steele, has openly stated that he would have "little or no" chance to unseat the incumbent Democrat, John Larson. Masullo, on the other hand, has great confidence that she can and will defeat Larson in the general election.

Masullo actively supports the efforts of President Bush in the war on terrorism. Steele, on the other hand, has openly criticized the President’s efforts.

I have met and heard Miriam Masullo speak. If people really mean it when they say they want someone to represent them who is not a "professional" politician, then Masullo is the right choice. She speaks from the heart and from logic and reason. As a scientist she is well prepared to thoroughly research the issues of the day and vote with conviction.

It is my understanding that Steele is more interested in plugging the book he has co-authored with his famous father. But Bob Steele is not running for congress, Phil Steele is.

We need someone with Masullo's determination and integrity to represent us in Congress. Therefore, I again urge every registered Republican in Barkhamsted, Colebrook, Hartland, New Hartford and Winsted to vote on September 10 and support Miriam Masullo. It is up to us as concerned voters to send a strong message to Larson that we will no longer accept the same old tax and spend tactics.

If you are someone who seriously wants change, then step up and do your part. Don't complain later if you let this opportunity to make your voice heard slip away or leave it up to someone else. I'm asking you. You make a difference! Let Masullo make a difference for all of us.
