FAVARH Duck Race on Farmington River
Five thousand ducks are in training for the 3rd annual FAVARH Duck Race on Sunday, September 22. By purchasing a duck, you will be eligible to win one of six fabulous prizes.
First prize is a 5-day, 4-night Disney World vacation for four including tickets to EPCOT Center and MGM Studios. Other prizes include a 27" Sony color television; a kayak; a Weber grill with utensils; a "Health and Wellness" package; and an "Adirondack Chair" package that includes a shopping spree full of gift certificates.
The yellow rubber ducks will be put into the Farmington River at 41 Bridge St. in Collinsville, home of the Collinsville Canoe and Kayak Company. If the number on the first duck to cross the finish line matches the number on your ticket, you win the first prize; the holder of the number on the second duck wins second prize, and so on.
The Duck Race is sponsored by FAVARH—the Farmington Valley ARC. Ducks are $5 each and can be purchased by calling FAVARH at 860-693-6662. Tickets can also be purchased at Collinsville Canoe and Kayak, and FAVARH wants to thank Jon and Sue Warner for their generous assistance with this race.
Food and free games for children will also be part of this event, which provides families a day to enjoy watching the activity on the Farmington River. All proceeds raised directly benefit programs FAVARH provides for persons with disabilities in and around the Farmington Valley.
