Farmington River Clean-Up

The Farmington River Watershed Association holds its 15th annual Farmington River Clean-Up on Saturday, September 21 from 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m. The event is made possible with support from Stanley Works and Data Management, Inc.

The Clean-Up is designed as a community event to get people and groups of all ages involved in helping to clean up litter along the banks of the Farmington River and its tributaries A free cookout is being held from noon-2 p.m. for all cleanup volunteers at the Lions Club Camp Happy Hill in Unionville.

Several cleanup meeting sites are being planned up and down the river, including Avon, Barkhamsted, Burlington, Granby, Unionville, Simsbury, Tariffville and Windsor. Garbage bags and gloves will be provided to all participants, through generous donations from local businesses and stores. Last year over 100 volunteers participated in collecting nearly two tons of trash.
