Candidates Sign Taxpayer Protection Pledge

Coalition for CT has co-sponsored the Taxpayer Protection Pledge of Americans for Tax Reform. By signing the Pledge, a candidate promises to "oppose (and vote against or veto) any and all efforts to increase taxes." To date, 1,274 incumbent state legislators, 8 governors, 212 members of the U.S. House of Representatives, 37 members of the U.S. Senate, and President George W. Bush have signed the Pledge.

In Connecticut, those who have signed the Taxpayer Protection Pledge include: candidates for Governor—Joseph G. Knott, Jr. and Governor John Rowland; candidates for the U.S. House of Representatives in the 5th District—Walter Gengarelly and Representative Jim Maloney; and candidates for the Connecticut State House—Representative Richard Ferrari of the 62nd District; and Representative William Hamzy of the 78th District.
