Speaking Out Against Attack on Iraq
By Barbara Braunstein, Winsted
As members of Winsted Area PeaceAction, we would like to speak out against the administration’s plans to attack Iraq.
Saddam Hussein has agreed to unconditional United Nations inspections of his country. This is a first step toward using peaceful means of resolving problems rather than going to war. Most world leaders have opposed an attack on Iraq, as have many senators and military advisors. An American invasion of Iraq would only further isolate us from the rest of the world and any future United Nations actions.
We intend to show our support for use of peaceful measures by holding a vigil at East End Park in Winsted on Sunday, September 29 from noon-1 p.m. The time to speak is now. We urge people who are concerned about this issue to join us. For more info, please call 860-379-5262.
This letter was also signed by Fran Devevo, Ann Evans and Joanne Hohmeister.
