Christmas Festival Weekend at Lourdes in Litchfield
The Montfort Missionaries at the Shrine of Lourdes in Litchfield invite area residents to capture the joy of Christmas during their Christmas Festival Weekend on Saturday and Sunday, December 14-15.
The festive weekend includes Candlelight Christmas Caroling at 7 p.m. on Saturday at the Grotto. The pathways at the shrine will be lit with candles and luminaria as carolers gather around the manger to hear the story of Jesus' birth. Participants will celebrate the occasion with a program of songs and carols. After the caroling, hot chocolate and cookies will be served in Pilgrim Hall.
On Sunday from 3-6 p.m., an outdoor Living Nativity will be created. Young people from area towns will enact the Christmas story accompanied by sheep, llamas and donkeys. A children's choir will sing as the meaning and mystery of the Christmas season is told in story and song. The Living Nativity will be enacted three times during this time period, and hot chocolate will be served in Pilgrim Hall.
