GREAT BARRINGTON: Claire Teague Senior Center activities—Avada Hearing Care Center from 10 a.m.-noon; blood pressure and health clinic (call for appointment) from 1-3 p.m.

LITCHFIELD: Community Center activities—blood pressure screening at 9:30 a.m.; Chi Gong with Luisa DeCastro at 9:30 a.m.

TORRINGTON: Concordia Lodge #20 Sons of Italy, 34 Center St. holds early bingo at 6 p.m. and regular bingo at 7 p.m., with progressive jackpot and refreshments. Doors open at 4 p.m.

 

Friday, January 3

COLEBROOK: Senior Center activities—lunch at noon.

LITCHFIELD: Community Center activities—yoga with Fran Oneglia ($7) at 9 a.m.

RIVERTON: Riverton Grange meets at 7:30 p.m. at the Grange Hall on Route 20. The program for the evening will be "The Dandelion." Refreshments will be served by Tillie and Bill Jackson.

 

Saturday, January 4

BANTAM: Veteran of the Month services will be conducted at 10 a.m. by American Legion Tyler-Seward-Kubish Post 44 at the All Wars Memorial on Route 202. The program will begin with the retirement of the flag of December’s Veteran of the Month, Korean War U.S. Air Force Sergeant Malcolm Ford, Jr., after which Civil War Army veteran Andrew McGurk will be honored as the January Veteran of the Month. LITCHFIELD: Community Center activities—Litchfield Table Tennis Club for ages 10-16 (cost is $10) meets from 9-11 a.m.

RIVERTON: Riverton Grange serves turkey dinners from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Grange Hall on Route 20.

TORRINGTON: Mass in Spanish will be celebrated at St. Peter’s Church, 107 East Main St. at 1 p.m.

 

Monday, January 6

LITCHFIELD: Community Center activities—yoga with Elin Larson ($7) at 9 a.m.; movie at 1 p.m.; Weight Watchers meeting at 4:30 p.m.; Audubon meeting at 6:30 p.m.

TORRINGTON: Torrington Woman’s Club meets at 2 p.m. at Center Congregational Church. The program will be slides from "Fifty Years of This and That" presented by Hugh Fritch. Anyone interested in attending may call 860-489-6189.

 

Tuesday, January 7

LITCHFIELD: Community Center activities—painting with friends (artists of all levels welcome) from 9 a.m.-noon; bingo at 1 p.m.; Beautification Commission meeting at 4 p.m.

NEW HARTFORD: A Community Clothing Swap will be held at North Congregational Church from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Bring your gently used clothing and shoes to trade for items swapped in by others. Thousands of items are available for children, women and men. This ongoing event is free and open to the public; for more info call 860-379-2466.

 

Wednesday, January 8

BRISTOL: The Mothers of Multiples of Greater Bristol meet at 7:30 p.m. at the First Congregational Church, 31 Maple St. After the general meeting, the group will be pampered with facials by a representative from The Body Shop. There will be hors d’oeuvres and refreshments. This club is a support group for mothers of twins, triplets and higher order multiples; new members are always welcome.
