Children’s Programs at Beardsley & Memorial Library

For the month of January, students in grades 4-6 will have the chance to cast a ballot for the 2003 Nutmeg Children's Book Award. Ten works of fiction by authors currently living in the United States—chosen for superior writing, characterization, plot and setting—are nominated each year. Students need not read all ten books to vote for their favorite. The program, established a decade ago, is sponsored by the Connecticut Library Association and the Connecticut Educational Media Association. Students in the designated grade levels who wish to participate in the voting will find a display of the nominated books and ballots in the Children’s Room at the Beardsley & Memorial Library, 40 Munro Place in Winsted. Come read and vote during January!

Remember that Beardsley & Memorial Library holds regular Story Times for children on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 10:30 a.m. Also, on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. children can relax at Pajama Story Time. Every Wednesday the Chess/ Risk Club meets from 4-6 p.m.

These programs are free and open to all; for more info call 860-379-6043.
