Winsted Senior Center Offers Rides
The Blanche McCarthy Winsted Senior Center offers local door-to-door van service for Winsted's senior citizens and disabled residents. Local transportation is available on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 8 a.m.-noon and from 12:30-4 p.m. On Thursday, rides are provided for local grocery shopping only. Local rides are also available for all Winsted residents on the first Thursday and the third Monday of each month from 6-10 p.m. (unless a holiday falls on that day, in which case rides are available the following week).
The Senior Center's transit van from Winsted to Torrington is available for all Winsted residents on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Van service for Barkhamsted residents is available on Wednesday. Rides may be used for medical visits, shopping, banking, movies, meetings, dining out, etc. Please call 379-4252 or 379-8325 at least one day in advance to arrange your ride.
Rides will not be available on holidays or when the Senior Center is closed due to winter storms; announcement will be made on radio station WZBG 97.3 FM if service is canceled due to weather.
