Volunteers Needed For Daffodil Days
Snow may still be on the ground, but the American Cancer Society is already thinking spring in anticipation of their popular Daffodil Days event. This annual fundraiser, taking place the week of March 24, celebrates the arrival of spring and the hope that cancer can be conquered.
To launch the program, the American Cancer Society buys acres of flowers from growers in the state of Washington, which are then purchased by local schools, restaurants, businesses, clubs, churches, and hundreds of individuals in return for donations to the Society's research, education and patient service programs. All daffodil orders are placed during January and February, and the flowers arrive just in time for the first week of spring.
Volunteers are currently being sought to help make this year's celebration of Daffodil Days a success in northwest Connecticut. There are several ways to take part in the event. Volunteer coordinators are needed to manage daffodil orders, to help distribute the pre-ordered flowers purchased in their communities, and to sell daffodils at several local sites during the week of March 24.
You can help the American Cancer Society celebrate Daffodil Days by volunteering to bring this beautiful symbol of hope to your community. For more info call 800-ACS-2345.
