Friday, February 7

COLEBROOK: Senior Center activities—lunch at noon (call 738-9521 by noon Thursday for reservations).

GREAT BARRINGTON: Claire Teague Senior Center activities—Tai Chi ($3) at 9 a.m.; Circus Day (including a bear and lion, ring toss and hopscotch in the lobby, popcorn, hot dogs, ice cream and clowns) starts at 11 a.m.; bridge at 1 p.m.

LITCHFIELD: Community Center activities—yoga with Fran Oneglia ($7) at 9 a.m.; Dvorak music lecture with Jeffery Engel at 1 p.m.; creative writing with Jean Sands from 1-3 p.m.; teen program for students in grades 7-9 from 7-10 p.m.

RIVERTON: Riverton Grange meets at the Grange Hall on Route 20 at 7:30 p.m. The program will be on "Queen Anne’s Lace." Refreshments will be served.

 

Saturday, February 8

LITCHFIELD: Community Center activities—table tennis club for ages 10-16 (call 567-8302 to register) from 9 a.m.-noon; Warner Theatre drama program from 1-4 p.m.

TORRINGTON: Concordia Lodge #20 Sons of Italy, 34 Center St. holds early bingo at 1 p.m. and regular bingo at 2 p.m., with progressive jackpot and refreshments. Doors open at 11 a.m.

WINSTED: Liberty Full Gospel Christian Fellowship holds a Praise and Worship Service at 6:30 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, 630 Main St. Come and experience the power of the Holy Spirit changing and transforming lives.

 

Sunday, February 9

NEW HARTFORD: EMT Explorers of Northwest Regional #7 host a benefit EMS Breakfast from 8-11 a.m. at the New Hartford Volunteer Firehouse on Route 219. Tickets are $5 adults, $3 children (under 8); for tickets call Maureen Bascetta at 379-9215.

SALISBURY: Salisbury Volunteer Ambulance Service and Salisbury Lions Club serve their annual Ski Jump Breakfast from 7:30-11:30 a.m. at the Ambulance Headquarters on Route 41 (across from the White Hart Inn). Menu includes pancakes, sausages, eggs, orange juice, coffee, tea and milk. Cost is $5 adults, $3 children (under 12). The Lions Club will also have a collection box for unwanted eyeglasses and hearing aids, which will be sent to a clearinghouse to be repaired, polished and sorted by prescription before being sent to Third World nations.

WINCHESTER CENTER: Baked Chicken Dinner served family style at Winchester Grange Hall on the Green from noon-1 p.m. The public is invited; admission is $7 adults, $3.50 children (12 and under). Reservations required; call 379-3557 or 626-0326. Take-out dinners are also available.

 

Monday, February 10

COLEBROOK: Senior Center activities—Rubber Stamping Club makes Valentines at 10 a.m.; lunch at noon (call 738-9521 by noon Friday for reservations).

GREAT BARRINGTON: Claire Teague Senior Center activities—exercise with Theresa Decker ($3) at 9:30 a.m.; tap dancing ($5) at 11 a.m.; art class at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m.

LITCHFIELD: Community Center activities—yoga with Elin Larson ($7) at 9 a.m.; AARP driving class at 9 a.m.; movie "Harrison’s Flowers" at 1 p.m.; VNS meeting at 3:30 p.m.; Weight Watchers meeting at 5 p.m.; French refresher course from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

TORRINGTON: Torrington Woman’s Club meets at 2 p.m. at Center Congregational Church. Nature photographer Robert Grohs will present a program on "Photographing Butterflies." Anyone interested in attending the meeting may call 860-489-6189.

LITCHFIELD: Community Center activities—painting with friends (artists of all levels welcome) from 9 a.m.-noon; Music Together at 10 a.m.; bingo at 1 p.m.; Beautification meeting at 4:30 p.m.; Women and Heart Disease program (free and open to public, to register call Charlotte Hungerford Hospital at 496-9512) includes screenings from 6-7 p.m. and lecture with cardiologist Dr. Carrie Wolfberg and Laurene Wallace, RN from 7-8 p.m.

THOMASTON: Thomaston Methodist Church Sunday School sponsors a Spaghetti Dinner from 5-7 p.m. in the church hall. All-you-can-eat menu includes spaghetti with homemade sauce, meatballs, garlic bread, salad and a variety of homemade desserts. Cost is $6 adults, $5 seniors, $4 children (12 and under).

NORTHFIELD: Northfield Volunteer Fire Company, 12 Main St. holds a Breakfast from 7:30-11 a.m. The regular menu includes all the pancakes you can eat, sausage, coffee and juice for $4; French toast, eggs and home fries will also be available. TORRINGTON: Evangelical Baptist Church at North Main St. and Winsted Rd. celebrates Agape Love Sunday starting at 9:45 a.m. This special event will include music by the International Bible College Trio, special speaker Dr. Bruce Miller, president of the International Bible College, and a great potluck feast free for all who attend.
