32nd Annual Avon Interfaith Brunch

On Sunday, March 9 at 11:30 a.m., the Avon Interfaith Council will hold its annual Interfaith Brunch at the Avon Middle School. Co-hosting this year's brunch will be Avon Center Congregational Church and West Avon Congregational Church.

In the public arena, faith has reached center stage like never before. With the tragedy of September 11, people of all walks of faith gathered together to pray for the families who lost loved ones. With President Clinton's Charitable Choice initiatives and now President Bush's faith-based initiatives, faith communities must be key collaborative partners in the provision of human services. And as we explore various aspects of global conflict, faith is the banner many world leaders banter about in discussion of God being on "our" side. With all these matters in mind, Reverend Shelley D.B. Copeland will speak of "The Changing Place of Faith." Music will be provided by The Book Ends.

Rev. Copeland serves as the Executive Director of the Capitol Region Conference of Churches. She is the first African-American and the first woman to hold this position, in an organization that represents over 150 Protestant and Roman Catholic churches in the Greater Hartford area.

Plan to attend and hear this very timely talk. Admission is $5 adults, $3 students, no charge for pre-school children; for tickets call Thomas Gugliotti at 673-3667, Robert August at 673-3580, or Tony Steere at 658-1747.
