United Congregational Church Calls New Pastor The Rev. Susan M. Taylor has been called to serve as the fifth pastor of United Congregational Church, 1622 Torringford St. in Torrington. She began at the church in October 2002. Ordained by the United Church of Christ, Litchfield North Association in the year 2000, Rev. Taylor previously served as the pastor of the Riverton Congregational Church in Riverton and as short-term interim in Sharon, as well as preaching and conducting worship services at many churches around Connecticut while doing pulpit supply. Rev. Taylor was born in Connecticut and lived in Burlington and Huron, Ohio. She attended schools in both locations and graduated from high school in Huron. Rev. Taylor received her associate's degree in business from Bowling Green State University in Ohio, a Bachelor of Arts degree from Central CT State University, and her Master of Divinity degree from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in Massachusetts. Prior to her call to the ministry, she worked as an administrative assistant and executive secretary for several years in Ohio and Connecticut. Rev. Taylor's interests include singing at her church and with the Connecticut Yankee Chorale in Torrington, photography, and enjoying the beauty of New England. Her priorities in ministry include pastoral care and preaching. She is active in several ministry groups both in her denomination and around the Connecticut area. She presently resides in Bristol.
