A Few Thoughts …
By Jeff Freund, Winsted
Following are a few thoughts on articles that appeared in the February 14 issue of The Voice.
To Richard Johnston [Our Roadways Threaten Wildlife]: You have to be joking! Crosswalks for wildlife? Without roadkill I'd starve to death. You wouldn't want to see that, would you? (On second thought, maybe you would.) Just who will be assigned to direct all these animals to cross at their designated places—you? I doubt it. And as far as insects are concerned, kill the little buggers. If you really want to save them, I’ll gladly supply you with as many cockroaches as you want.
To Gerald E. Sheagren [The United Nitwits]: Right on!!
To Kirk D. Sinclair [Fewer Ecological Risks with Nuclear Energy]: Would you, or anyone else, want to stop nuclear energy? If you do, does that include the sun?
To Ben Davidson [About the Validity of the Winsted Reassessment]: The recent reassessment is a farce, as you have stated. Vision Appraisal had no vision except their fee. Why did the town hire an appraisal company from New Jersey in the first place? These people know nothing about rural appraisal. They probably had the figures completed before they looked at the first property. Think about that!
My thoughts on the ongoing debate about "what Jesus would drive" [Jesus Would Drive the Automakers Crazy, by Gabe Piwonski]: He would walk! Aside from not wanting to pollute the air, he wouldn't want to go through the hassle of obtaining a driver’s license or insurance. As for buying a car, he would have none of it. Remember what he did to the money changers?
And to Marvin Peyser [Israel Needs a Partner-in-Peace, February 7]: The Jews and Arabs have been at war for at least 4,000 years, with or without help from the United States of America. So, enough already!
