BURLINGTON: Burlington Democratic Town Committee holds its annual St. Patrick’s Day Fundraising Dinner at 7 p.m., with a cash bar from 6-7 p.m. Political blarney and Irish music will accompany the buffet dinner, which includes corned beef and cabbage as well as fish entrée, dessert and coffee. NORTHFIELD: Northfield Volunteer Fire Company, 12 Main St. holds a Breakfast from 7:30-11 a.m. The regular menu includes all the pancakes you can eat, sausage, coffee and juice for $4; French toast, eggs and home fries will also be available. CANTON: Canton Drug and Alcohol Council sponsors a Parent Forum from 7-8 p.m. at the Canton Community Center. All community members are invited to attend this presentation given by John G. Callas and Tom Szigethy, Child Welfare Trainers with "From the Frontlines." Their presentation is dedicated to giving parents the most "cutting edge" information about drugs and alcohol and American teens. LITCHFIELD: Northwest Conservation District presents a "Growing Greener" workshop with conservation planner and author Randall Arendt from 4-9 p.m. at Litchfield Fire House on Route 202. As local development pressure continues to increase, communities can identify and preserve a community-wide network of open space. Using some relatively straight-forward amendments to municipal comprehensive plans, zoning and subdivision regulations, communities can achieve their conservation goals in a manner that is fair to all parties concerned. Communities can learn how to balance growth and the need for affordable housing with the preservation of biodiversity, farmland and open space. The program includes a multimedia lecture from 4-6 p.m., a buffet dinner at 6 p.m., and a hands-on design exercise at 7 p.m. Tickets are $20; to register call 860-626-7222.
