AVON: Northwestern CT Community College Center for Holistic Studies sponsors "Awakening Heart and Mind Essence: The Path of Authentic Healing" from 7-9 p.m. at the Complementary HealthCare Institute, 35 Nod Rd. Does healing begin in the body or the mindor do both play a role in the process of achieving and maintaining maximum health? Using the Tibetan medical model, which suggests a strong connection between spiritual and physical health, Kathy Wesley will explore how a strong spiritual life can promote healing and bring about mental well-being, even in the midst of serious illness. Kathy Wesley has been a student of Khenpo Karthar Rinpoche since 1977, and has earned the title of "retreat lama." She will cover how habitual emotional patterns influence health, the role of prayer and meditation in healing, and how the practice of "letting go" can increase feelings of well-being, love and compassion during times of sickness. Cost is $25; for more info or to register, call Denise Wolf at 860-409-1501, ext 32121.
