The final issue of The Voice
Thank you for 11 years of support.
This will be the last issue of The Voice. Unfortunately, difficult economic times in the Northwest Corner are forcing us to cease operations. It has been an honor to serve this area and, on behalf of the whole staff, I want to thank our readers, writers and advertisers for making The Voice a part of the community for 11 years.
Since it began in 1992, The Voice has been written by the citizens of the towns we serve. We have never employed reporters, instead providing a forum for opinions that do not fit into the framework provided by conventional newspapers. Hundreds, if not thousands, of writers have used these pages to bring up issues and ideas that may otherwise have never been shared. In this regard, The Voice has been a tremendous success.
The Voice is proof that, if given the opportunity, non-professional writers can say significant things. I want to thank all of the writers who made this paper possible. Their dedication and commitment made The Voice consistently interesting and showed, week after week, how deeply citizens in this area care about the issues that impact their communities. They don’t always agree, but they always care.
I have also been extremely fortunate to work with people who are talented, creative and hard-working. Putting a paper together is difficult, labor-intensive work and they have always done an excellent job. Their commitment to the ideals that made this paper unique made it an honor to work with them.
Thank you for reading The Voice.
