Audubon Kids' Day in Sharon Sharon Audubon Center, Route 4 in Sharon hosts its annual Audubon Kids' Day on Sunday, October 28 from 1-4:15 p.m. This fun-filled autumn family event features various nature crafts and games for young children. Among the crafts under the tent this year will be spiral snakes, nature crowns, potato prints, and the always-anticipated Merry Marsh. Games such as "Feed the Frog" and "Pin the Eyes on the Owl" are also popular with the children. There will also be pumpkin carving, a petting zoo, and a hay bale maze constructed of approximately 200 bales. Hamburgers, veggie burgers, hot dogs, candy apples, pumpkin pie, apple cider and more will be served at the food tent. Following the crafts and games at 3 p.m., children are invited to join in a costume parade around the Center grounds led by a marching band and the friendly animals of the Enchanted Forest. All children are encouraged to wear a costume. At the close of the parade, children and their families can sit back and enjoy the stories and songs of children's entertainer Paul Recker. Paul is an accomplished guitar player, an energetic personality, and a versatile performer whose easygoing and engaging style draws the audience into the performance like kids into a candy store. Everyone will want to participate in this lively concert. Paul weaves stories, folk songs, parodies, musical games and activities into a fabric of adventure, learning and fun! Admission to the event is $5 per carload. (Don't forget the daylight savings time change!) For more info call 860-364-0520. |
