It's Time for a Change

By Joan Bahre, Canton

I have been a resident of Canton for nearly 50 years and have seen our town grow and change. For the first time in ten years we will have new leadership at the First Selectman's position, and I am voting for Lou Daniels. Lou is the best person to lead our town through the changes ahead.

Going forward, I think our town will be faced with a variety of complex issues and problems—issues like maintaining our unique character, growing our tax base and keeping our home values high. It will take strong leadership, experience and vision to keep our town on the right track. Lou Daniels has the training, education and business knowledge to lead our town.

Lou has been an advocate for expansion of our recreation facilities, more programs for seniors and teens, and an invaluable BOS member throughout his five terms. He is a passionate believer in our town and volunteers his time outside of being a selectman. On Saturdays you might see Lou as one of the folks at the transfer station separating bottles and cans for the Booster Club. In the spring, you might find him coordinating the Girl's Softball League. You might spot him on the sidelines of any Canton sporting event cheering for his town. Lou prides himself on being highly visible and very willing to discuss any issue.

Lou is president of Canton Dollars for Scholars, a board member of Canton Little League, a Rotarian, and a senior manager with a Fortune 500 company. He knows how to manage his time, work with people and solve problems. His ten years on the Board of Selectmen make him the most qualified of any of the candidates. To his testimony are the variety of endorsement letters found in the newspapers from other town leaders and local citizens.

I hope you will agree with me that it's more important to vote your town than to vote your party. I am a registered Democrat, but there is no doubt that I am voting for Lou Daniels on November 6.
