Canton’s Dilemma
Canton has a dilemma! How do you replace a First Selectman like Kathy Corkum? Kathy's decade-long devotion to her job and her town, and the knowledge of the job she brought to it, will likely never be equaled. So, how to choose our new leader? My choice is Mary Tomolonius. Mary has already proven her leadership capabilities as head of Sam Collins Day, the Canton Chamber and the Farmington Valley Visitors Association. I have seen her work in these organizations, and have been impressed with her dedication and her competence. As her slogan aptly says, "Performance, not promises!" As selectman for the past six years, serving as deputy first selectman for four of them, Mary has worked diligently for all of Canton's citizens. Mary's business is in Canton, and she is available and in close touch with day-to-day town happenings. Most importantly, I like Mary's ethics! She is honest, fair, direct, no-nonsense, and cares deeply about her town and the people who live here. When I think of Mary I am reminded of my old school motto, "Courage for the deed, grace for the doing." Mary is, as Kathy was, the best candidate for First Selectman for voters from both parties. To ensure a bright and stable future for Canton, I strongly support her candidacy, and urge you to do the same! |
