Endless Energy and Commitment

By Lucy Nathan, Canton

I am writing this letter in support of my friend and colleague Mary Tomolonius. I first met Mary when I was having zoning problems with my commercial property in downtown Collinsville in the summer of 1998. Mary immediately did everything she could to help me; she advised me about whom I should speak with, and spoke to a couple of key people herself to help me rectify my problem. What impressed me the most was how accessible she was, and how genuinely concerned and willing to help. She never made me feel like she didn't have the time. She's always so nice.

At the end of the summer of 1998 I was invited to be on the board of directors of the Chamber of Commerce. Mary was vice president at the time, and was appointed president the following May. Between the Chamber of Commerce and the Sam Collins Day Committee, we had a lot more contact and involvement with each other, leading to our friendship. I must say that I have never seen a more dedicated and motivated person. I don't know how she does it all. She never hesitates to add another activity, such as the morning Networking Group that she started last May.

Her endless energy and commitment to the town of Canton continue to amaze me. I feel completely confident putting the future of Canton in her hands. I urge the people of Canton to join me in choosing Mary Tomolonious for First Selectman on November 6.
