I have been a resident of Canton for nearly 50 years and have seen our town grow and change. For the first time in ten years we will have new leadership at the First Selectman's position, and I am voting for Lou Daniels. Lou is the best person to lead our town through the changes ahead. More ... I am supporting Mary Tomolonius for First Selectman. Mary has been a member of the Board of Selectmen for six years, and has served as Deputy First Selectman for the past four years. She is a highly organized, dedicated and ethical person. More ... Canton has a dilemma! How do you replace a First Selectman like Kathy Corkum? Kathy's decade-long devotion to her job and her town, and the knowledge of the job she brought to it, will likely never be equaled. So, how to choose our new leader? More ... Those opposed to the so-called big box stores in Canton have been well organized and vocal. They would have us believe that their campaign letters represent both the views of all Canton residents and the truth. Some of us doubt that either is true. More ... How does our town deal with the need for growing Canton's tax base? And how do we do it without sacrificing the small town charm that Canton residents care about? More ... I am endorsing Republican Lou Daniels for First Selectman of Canton in the coming election. Lou is very qualified for this by experience, education and training. He has a degree in Finance and Management from Providence College. He is Senior Vice President of a Fortune 500 company. He has lived in town over fifteen years, and has been active in town affairs and government for most of them. He has been a selectman for ten years. He has been chairman of the Park and Recreation Commission. He has been active in youth sports and the PTA. More ... I am writing this letter in support of my friend and colleague Mary Tomolonius. I first met Mary when I was having zoning problems with my commercial property in downtown Collinsville in the summer of 1998. Mary immediately did everything she could to help me; she advised me about whom I should speak with, and spoke to a couple of key people herself to help me rectify my problem. What impressed me the most was how accessible she was, and how genuinely concerned and willing to help. She never made me feel like she didn't have the time. She's always so nice. More ... I write in support of Lou Daniels for First Selectman. He brings to the position strong management skills and a heavy financial background. He served for many years as Chairman of the Recreational Commission, where he developed a plan and recommendations for repair and maintenance of our existing athletic fields and facilities and the construction of additional fields to serve our growing population. When he was elected to the Board of Selectmen ten years ago, he carried forward his recreation plans and recommendations and made them a high priority. The new athletic fields on the Mills property brought this plan to fruition. More ... To my fellow neighbors in Canton: Let's not make running for First Selectperson in town a political personality contest. Mary Tomolonius will uphold the highest professional standard—before, during, and after the campaign. With all that is going on in the world, let's vote for the person we feel will best handle the important issues and concerns that will be affecting Canton residents in the future. More ... Honorable, integral, moral—that's HIM, Louis M. Daniels. I urge you to cast your vote for HIM on November 6. More ... |
