When we began this coalition campaign several months ago, one of the first questions we were asked was, "Are you Democrats or Republicans?" Our answer was quick and very simple: We don't believe that this campaign is about Democrats, Republicans or unaffiliated voters! Our campaign is about a small town that is facing significant challenges and has before it tremendous opportunities. Our campaign is about bringing excellent business skills and practices into our governmental process. Our campaign is about reinvigorating our community through leadership, effective communication and encouraging our residents, both young and old, to become part of the town's governmental process. More ... As you are probably aware, I am running unopposed for the position of Tax Collector on the Baxter-Jones ticket. I appreciate the support and vote of confidence given me by the townspeople of New Hartford. However, I am not writing to you about my own candidacy in this election. More ... As you know, I am running for Treasurer on the Baxter-Jones ticket in the upcoming town election. This may have surprised you, as I have not run for political office before. One reason I decided to accept the challenge was because I felt it was time to give something back to New Hartford after 23 years of living in this wonderful place. When Bill and Chris explained their "New Hartford Comes First" vision to me, they assured me that their coalition campaign is not politics as usual. It's not about Democrats, Republicans and unaffiliated voters, but rather, it's about guiding our great little town through the significant challenges that it is facing.
