Active Singles sponsors a HIKE at Giuffrida Park in Meriden on Sunday, November 18 at 9:30 a.m. Please arrive 30 minutes early. Bring hiking boots and water; there will be four different skill levels. For singles only (ages 30s-50s), no children or dogs; new members are welcome. Optional brunch to follow 2-hour hike. Litchfield Hills Audubon Society conducts its annual DUCK RAMBLE on Sunday, November 18, rain or shine. Anyone wishing to participate is requested to meet at 1:30 p.m. in the parking lot at the Litchfield Grange on Route 202 (west of Litchfield center). Ray Belding will lead the field trip to Point Folly and surrounding areas of Bantam Lake as the group looks for migrating water fowl and other bird species. Immediately following the event, a potluck dinner will be held at the Grange Hall; bring your favorite dish to share and utensils. Housatonic Audubon Society sponsors its annual DUCK RAMBLE AND POTLUCK get-together with Litchfield Hills Audubon on Sunday, November 18. Meet at Sharon Audubon on Route 4 in Sharon at 12:30 p.m., or at the Litchfield Grange, Route 202 in Litchfield at 1:30 p.m. Join both the Housatonic Audubon and the Litchfield Hills Audubon Society for their annual search for ducks around Bantam Lake and the Litchfield area. This is an excellent opportunity to see many of the local duck species, meet local birding experts and enjoy the potluck supper following at the Litchfield Grange. Roaring Brook Nature Center, 70 Gracey Rd. in Canton sponsors a FAMILY NATURE WALK on Sunday, November 18 at 2 p.m. During this 90-minute walk we'll look for signs that tell us winter is on the way, and focus on how animals prepare for the winter season.
