Festivals and Sales

The FFA at Wamogo Regional High School in Litchfield sponsors a CITRUS AND CHEESE SALE through November 29; and a THANKSGIVING ARRANGEMENT SALE on November 16-21. If you would like to place an order for either of these sales, call the Agricultural Office at 860-567-6649.

Saint Francis Women's Club sponsors a PENNY AUCTION on Friday, November 16 at St. Francis School, 360 Prospect St. in Torrington. Doors open at 6 p.m., with the auction beginning at 7 p.m. There will be a kids table, raffle table, door prizes and refreshments. Children are welcome.

St. Peter's-Trinity Church, 160 Main St. in Thomaston sponsors an INDOOR CRAFT SALE on Saturday, November 17 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. in its Great Hall. There will be Christmas ornaments and decorations, a "New to You" table, homemade candy, and a bake sale. Refreshments will be served. For more info call 860-283-5472.

Holy Trinity Church, 64 Berry St. in Torrington sponsors its annual HOLIDAY CRAFT FAIR on Saturday, November 17 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. New vendors will feature gifts, crafts and other goodies for the holiday season. Lunch and refreshments will be available.

FFA at Northwestern Regional School, 100 Battistoni Drive in Winsted presents its CHRISTMAS CRAFT FAIR on Saturday, November 17 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. More than 50 crafters will be displaying a wide variety of their original work. A light lunch, baked goods and a variety of Agricultural Education/ FFA products will be available. For more info call 860-379-3882.

Trinity Episcopal Church, 55 River Rd. in Collinsville sponsors a MAIN STREET USA FAIR on Saturday, November 17 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. There will be an apple Pie Baking contest; entries are due by 11 a.m. for judging at noon. The admission charge will be a donation for the Canton Food Bank or the Canton Fuel Bank.

First Congregational Church, 40 DeForest St. in Watertown holds its annual CHRISTMAS BOUTIQUE on Saturday, November 17 from 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall of the church. Boutique 2001: Button and Bows will feature a Victorian atmosphere. Inspired by the theme will be a large selection of decorations and ornaments, such as button and bow trees and faux-painted pots. There will be a silent auction, and a Sweet Shoppe that features homemade fudge with other baked goods. Canton Historical Society, 11 Front St. in Collinsville presents its annual CHRISTMAS BOUTIQUE on Saturday, November 17 beginning at 10 a.m. On sale will be a variety of hand-crafted toys, wreaths, ornaments, and other gift items. The museum’s 2002 calendar will be on sale, containing much history and a year of historical photographs. Also on sale will be the "Photographic History of Canton/ Collinsville" by author Donna Miller, who will be on hand for book signing. There will be a teacup auction and a food sale; lunch and refreshments will be served.

The PF Youth Group of the Church of Christ Congregational in Goshen will b selling unbaked HOMEMADE APPLE PIES for the Thanksgiving holiday. Pies will be made on Saturday, November 17 with pickup from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Orders should be made by calling the church at 491-2793.

St. Andrews Church, Main St. in Kent presents its annual BAZAAR on Saturday, November 17 from 10 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Besides crafts on the Christmas table, there will be a food table with baked goods, jellies and spreads, a "golden treasures" table with antique and fine gift quality items, and a white elephant table with items suitable for gifts. Door prizes donated by local businesses will be awarded at 1 p.m.; ticket holders do not need to be present to win. The event is sponsored by the Mission and Outreach Committee of the church, and all money collected will go to furthering its efforts. For more info call 860-927-3486.

United Congregational Church, Torringford St. in Torrington hosts THE FRUIT OF OUR HANDS on Saturday, November 17 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. This art show and sale highlights the work of Christian artists in a variety of mediums including jewelry, pastel, pen and ink, pottery, dried floral arrangements, dolls, and wooden objects. Artists in attendance include Carolyn Roberge, Candace Gwilt, Amy Patton and Wil Cummings. All participating artists will be contributing a piece of their work to a raffle, with all proceeds benefiting the Christian Counseling Connection of Torrington.

Artwell, 19 Water St. in Torrington sponsors its annual HOLIDAY MARKETPLACE AND MINIATURES sale from November 17 through December 21. Reasonably priced artist-made gifts, including ornaments, wearable art, prints, paintings, sculpture, dolls, stained glass, pottery, cards, boxes, jewelry and much more will be on display. New this year, artists have been invited to create a "mystery gift package" which will be offered in a silent auction to benefit Artwell. There will be a special opening reception on Saturday, November 17 from 5-8 p.m. All are invited to stop by to meet some of the artists and share refreshments as well as browse for holiday gifts. M.E.O.W., Inc. presents its annual CHRISTMAS BAZAAR on Sunday, November 18 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Litchfield Grange Hall on Route 202 (across from the Litchfield Inn). In addition to many crafts, jewelry, baskets and holiday decorations, special treats will include the MEOW Cookie Walk and home baked goodies. The drawing for the Cat Quilt will be the highlight of the event at 1 p.m.; tickets will be sold right up to the drawing.
