Christmas Soup 2001 in Torrington Christmas Soup 2001, the 7th annual benefit for the Community Kitchen of Torrington, takes place on Saturday, December 1 from 1-7 p.m. at the Center for the Dance Arts, 523 Main St. in Torrington. There will be entertainment throughout the day, an hourly raffle beginning at 2 p.m., a silent auction, and refreshments available at a nominal cost. All who attend are eligible to enter the raffles and silent auction and have the opportunity to win valuable prizes from area merchants, including CDs, authentic golf shirts, professional and collegiate sports merchandise, a beautiful oil painting by artist Ron Hill, gift cards to area stores, gift certificates, and more. Since Christmas Soup began in 1995, about $4,000 has been raised to support the Community Kitchen of Torrington. This has all been made possible through the kindness and generosity of area merchants and residents. Come down and enjoy great music (including Christmas music, of course), warm community fellowship, and help feed the hungry in Torrington at the same time. Christmas Soup 2001 is about celebrating the true meaning of Christmas—it's about celebrating the birth, ministry and victory of our precious Savior Jesus Christ! It's about putting into action the very things that we as a community and as Christians profess to believe. We're so very thankful for the generosity of area businesses and individuals who have graciously donated all items to be raffled and auctioned off. In addition, we'd like to thank all of the stores that are providing food and beverage that will be used for refreshments. Of course, we extend warm thanks to every performer who will be taking part in the program and look forward to having a great time. Further, we appreciate all of those who are volunteering in various capacities throughout the day. Most importantly, we'd like to thank our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for making it all possible and providing all of the blessings mentioned above. To enjoy His very presence at Christmas Soup 2001, manifest in the praises sung, efforts made and love that will be shared is something we certainly look forward to! Admission is $5 for adults, and $1 for children (12 and under, accompanied by an adult); all proceeds go to the Community Kitchen of Torrington. For more info call Wilbert at 860-482-2975. |
