Canton Recreation Department sponsors BREAKFAST WITH SANTA on Saturday, December 1 with 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. seatings at the Canton Community Center, 40 Dyer Dr. in Canton. Children in pre-K through grade 3 and their parents are invited. The menu includes pancakes, sausage, juice, hot chocolate and coffee. Each child will receive a gift from Santa and be entertained by a local entertainer. Children are encouraged to bring their letters to Santa; everyone is asked to bring a non-perishable food item for the Canton Food Bank. Volunteers from the Canton/ Avon Rotary will be the cooks for the day. Cost is $3 children, $5 adults; pre-registration is required as there are only 75 tickets available for each seating. Thomaston Public Library, 248 Main St. in Thomaston holds its annual KIDS’ CHRISTMAS CRAFT FAIR on Saturday, December 1 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Young school-age crafters have been busy creating decorations, jewelry and treats; families are encouraged to use this great opportunity to shop. New England Cheerleading and Children’s Academy, 242 Birge Park Rd. (Route 4) in Harwinton holds its CHRISTMAS OPEN HOUSE on Saturday, December 1 from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. The goal of this annual event is to offer stress-free, quality time for children and parents to spend together before the holiday rush sets in. Santa and his elves will be on hand to greet everyone, and children will enjoy jumping and tumbling on the child-safe equipment, making crafts, playing games, face and nail painting, raffles and give-aways. Demonstrations in cheerleading, gymnastics and dance will be performed hourly. Parents bringing a canned good to be donated to a local food bank will be entered into a drawing for a 25-lb. turkey. Torrington Library invites all children to help decorate the library by DECORATING A STOCKING. Stockings will be available at the library beginning December 1; return them by December 15 so they can be hung around the library. You may keep your stocking if you pick it up at the library by January 5.

New Hartford Woman's Club sponsors BREAKFAST WITH SANTA on Sunday, December 2 (snow date is December 9) from 8-11 a.m. at the Ann Antollini School in New Hartford. Admission for this "all the pancakes you can eat" breakfast is $3.50 adults, $2.50 children (under 12); proceeds benefit community services and scholarships. There will also be a bake sale this year.
