Canton Parks and Recreation sponsors its 4th annual HOLIDAY LIGHTING on Friday, November 30 at 7 p.m. at the Town Green. Sing Christmas carols with the Famington Valley Band. Local Girl Scouts will be serving hot chocolate and donut holes. Santa will be available for photos for $2, to benefit the Canton Food Bank. For more info call 860-693-5808.

Stanley-Whitman House, 37 High St. in Farmington will hosts CANDLELIGHT TOURS on Friday and Saturday, November 30-December 1 from 5-8 p.m. Participants will park at Brickwalk Shops on High Street, where a costumed guide carrying a lantern will meet them. The guide will lead participants down historic High Street, talking about the architecture of the 17th-19th century houses along the way. Guests will be given a warming cup of mulled cider and entertained with colonial-era games and entertainment in the museum's Orientation Room, adjacent to the historic house, before the start of their tours. A costumed guide will lead guests in small groups through the seven-room historic house, which will be decorated for the season and lit with mock candle and fire light. Guests will encounter costumed interpreters who are personifying people of the past, from 1720 through the years of the American Revolution. Admission is $10 adults, $8 children, age 3 and under free; reservations are required. For more info call 860-677-9222.

Social Connections sponsors a SINGLES TROLLEY RIDE and House Party on Saturday, December 1 at 6:30 p.m. at the Connecticut Trolley, 58 North Rd. in East Windsor. It's Winterfest time and we'll enjoy a nighttime ride through a colorful tunnel of Christmas lights. You'll hear the old-time whistle blow and brass bells ring. Afterward, we'll go nearby to a house party. Dress warm and bring a blanket to snuggle into. Admission is $20; for more info call Steve at 860-658-2385.

Goshen Hospice holds its annual LIGHT UP A LIFE on Sunday, December 2 at 4:30 p.m. at the Old Town Hall, Routes 4 & 63 (at the rotary) in Goshen. For more than a decade, the Goshen Hospice Volunteer Program has sponsored a holiday tree lighting ceremony to commemorate and honor loved ones. There will be music, readings and refreshments. Open to the public.

Town of New Hartford holds its LIGHT NEW HARTFORD festivities on Sunday, December 2 at 6 p.m. in New Hartford Center. There will be caroling, and lighting of a tree donated by the Regional #7 Vo-Ag Department. Visit Santa and drop off non-perishable food donations. Children in grades K-6 are invited to make tree decorations with an Americana theme; children who bring their decorations may exchange them for a raffle ticket. Refreshments sponsored by BookFriends will follow at the Licia and Mason Beekley Community Library.

Litchfield County Medical Assistants hold their CHRISTMAS PARTY on Wednesday, December 19 at 6:30 p.m. at Amarillo’s Restaurant, 2407 Winsted Rd. in Torrington. Active Singles sponsors a NEW YEAR'S EVE MARDI GRAS DINNER DANCE on Monday, December 31 from 6 p.m.-1 a.m. at the Knights of Columbus in Meriden. This is a costume party with over $500 in cash prizes. Casual dress if not in costume. This is a full dinner buffet with special appetizers and dessert.
