Parents, students, teachers, community and civic leaders, along with officials from the Torrington school system and the Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts, gathered recently for a community-wide celebration announcing the extension of the Bushnell's PARTNERS program (Partners in Arts and Education Revitalizing Schools) into the Torrington school system. The kick-off event announced the spring implementation of the Bushnell's award-winning PARTNERS program in the Torrington school system at Vogel-Wetmore and Southwest elementary schools. In November, the program received overwhelming support, and the Torrington Board of Education voted formally to bring it to Torrington schools. More ... "Introduction to Acting," in conjunction with "Introduction to Acting: Lab" will focus on the basic elements of acting. The Torrington Symphony, under the baton of conductor Charles Fidlar, will perform a Winter Concert on Sunday, January 6 at 3 p.m. at the Torrington Middle School. This concert is the last of a series of three presented by the symphony to celebrate its 40th anniversary. Since its inception, the symphony has served both Torrington and the greater Litchfield County area, working to enhance appreciation of arts and increase community involvement. The symphony, which includes professional musicians as well as volunteers and semi-professionals, welcomes donations and is pleased to announce that they were recently awarded a grant by the Torrington Foundation for Public Giving.
