An Unfortunate and Sad Accident

The letter about the tragic accident at Mohawk Mountain Ski Area ["Mohawk Mountain Ski Death" by Jamie MacKenzie, January 11] should never have been printed. It sounds to me as if it could have been written by a disgruntled parent whose child, or children, had faced discipline for some major act of misbehavior at Mohawk Ski Area.

Carol Lugar was indeed truly "devastated" when she learned, late in the evening from Hartford Hospital, that the accident had become a fatality. The care the young lady was given at Mohawk prior to helicopter departure for Hartford was absolutely the finest.

It was all an extremely unfortunate and sad accident.
