: Thomaston Methodist Church sponsors a Meatloaf Dinner in Wesley Hall from 5-7 p.m. Menu includes meatloaf, twice-baked potatoes, green beans, carrots, bread sticks, beverage (coffee, tea and juice) and an assortment of desserts. Cost is $7 adults, $5 seniors, $4 children (under 12).

TORRINGTON

: Concordia Lodge #20 Sons of Italy, 34 Center St. holds early bingo at 1 p.m. and regular bingo at 2 p.m., with progressive jackpot and refreshments. Doors open at 11 a.m.

 

Sunday, January 20

NORTHFIELD

: Northfield Volunteer Fire Company, 12 Main St. holds a breakfast from 7:30-11 a.m. Menu includes all the pancakes you can eat, sausage, coffee and juice for $4. French toast, eggs and home fries are also available. A Hungryman’s Special including all of the above costs $5. Proceeds will help subsidize Fire Department operations; for more info call 283-9303.

: CL&P sponsors Energy Bingo at the Thompson Heights Senior Complex, 301 Litchfield St. at 1 p.m. Energy Bingo was developed to help customers identify ways to reduce their energy consumption and lower their bills. Participants have fun playing bingo while receiving information on saving energy, safety, and seasonal health issues. As bingo numbers are called, tips about energy conservation, heat stress, home safety, power outages and home security are discussed. Energy-related prizes like night lights, appliance timers, flashlights and dual-power radios will be awarded to the winners. For more info call CL&P at 800-286-5000, ext 4292.

: Hevreh of Southern Berkshire, 270 State Rd. (Route 23) celebrates the New Year for Trees from noon-1 p.m. This Jewish holiday known as Tu B’Shevat originated in biblical times. Hevreh will conduct a special Seder (or ordered festive meal) during which we will tell the story of the holiday, give thanks for the beauty and bounty of nature, and enjoy eating unusual and tasty delights such as pomegranates, almonds, dates and carob. The community is invited to attend.
